"...Du bist krank im Kopf und ich kann es sehn..." Megaherz- Schizophren

A little artistic experiment to get me back into the groove. I've been missing traditional art lately, and with puppy duty keeping me off the comp, I needed something to focus on. So, the last time I was at my local Walmart, I stopped in the art aisle and picked up a pad of a nice textured paper. It's actually watercolor paper, but I was curious to see how it would do with marker and colored pencil. This is the result!

Enjoy!

I love the effects you get with markers on watercolour paper, its excellent. nice to see traditional work, so much of the work seems to be digital, nice piece.

GAHHHH this looks so LOVELY C: I love what the textured paper has done with the coloured pencils C:. Great work on the colouring, the dark colour scheme looks so nice, and the black and skin tones stand out really nicely against the white background. Nice job on the shading as well, the tones are so nice and deep and the added texture works really well too . Nice work on the pose, the anatomy looks really great, and I really like the twisting in the body AWESOME JOB!!!!

This is a gorgeous piece and the textured paper really gives it something! Your musculature, texture and posing are FABELHAFT (I particularly love the cloth and leather textures that you build with colored pencil and marker). Facial expression is also creepy, which goes well with the title (A+). Also, this pose was definitely a challenging and bold choice that really paid off!

After looking at it for a long time, though, his right hand is awkwardly posed/shaped. It is not that his hand could not be posed in such a manner, but for what you have the hand doing, it does not seem to emit the right sort of depth (i.e. it looks flat). The fingers are just fine, but the back of the hand does not seem to have enough of a scoop shape to it and that bone that juts out of the side of the wrist seems to be a bit high.

Honestly, though, it took me a lot of staring to really see it. The left hand/fingers that are poking out from behind his head are so *magnificently* executed, and everything else is so absolutely strong & eye-catching that it's not a huge issue.

I hope you don't mind my The hand doesn't change my overall opinion that this piece is awesome!

That hand is a little wonky, but I stared at it for too long and got tired of trying. XD It happens. Thank you, though! I will keep that in mind for the next time!! <3

I absolutely adore the colours on this for so many reasons! But mostly because nothing is the same tone x3 I love how his pants have a tint of blue to them, and the watercolour paper is perfect for the padding! I also really love how you did his gloves, since it's not black! They look sheer! x3 It's so awesome!:heart:

I did my best to really put work and thought into the colors, tones, and execution on this one! My markers worked amazingly for that. Having a lot of them really pays off, even with a limited color scheme piece. =B

This is fantastic, and it's really wonderful to see Berlin make a comeback! You already know this, but he's one of my personal favorites of yours. Him, Kussel and Sei. *_*

I think your choice to use textured paper make for a really interesting, positive result. It adds a new element to your work that I think is just fantastic! And, it also makes it look like Berlin is sitting in a padded room. I also love his somewhat twisted, perky pose. It gives me a good sense of the character. :)

Fantastic, and a definite :+fav: for me!!

I enjoyed working with a different paper choice. I don't think I'll be using it in the same way in the future, but it was a nice experience! I do like the texture it gives, so it'll be used again for something that will really benefit from it. =3

First things first... damn, that is one nice pose !

And wow, watercolour paper ? I must say, it looks brilliant, hell, it even brings a nice texture to the piece and I wouldn't of guessed it was watercolour paper at first at all ! Great job honey~

XD It looks pretty spiffy, despite the paper choice. I prolly won't use it again, at least until I buy a wax blender. My next idea is to nab some Bristol board and see where that goes.

It seems like an awesome surface to play with. I used it briefly way back in art school, but not with the mixed media I use now. I'm excited to get my hands on some, and see what happens! =D

Oh yes yes yes 8D I need to find some reason or another to use my bristol board again, I only use it to lean on at the mom cos I've been using thickish paper for sketches XD
